After submitting the form, Michelle, our Head of Adoptions, will contact you. Please note that our team consists of volunteers who have busy lives outside of their work for Melez Dog Rescue, so it may take a few days before you hear from us.

You can apply for a specific dog or submit a general application, indicating the type of dog you are looking for, and we will show you some options that we believe would be a good match. We can provide you with detailed information about all our dogs and answer any additional questions by sending more photos and videos. All our dogs can be tested with cats and children, though please keep in mind that a quick test is different from a dog actually living in a home with a cat or child.

If we all feel that one of our dogs might be a good fit for you, One of our adoption team volunteers will schedule a phone call to provide you with more details. Following this conversation, we will arrange a home visit. During the home visit, a volunteer will come to your home to meet you and your family, discuss the adoption, and assess whether your home and daily life are suitable for the dog you are interested in.

If the home visit is successful, we can finalize the adoption! You will need to sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee to complete the process. Our adoption fee is €500. The dogs arrive in the Netherlands/Belgium microchipped, up to date on their rabies and combination vaccinations, neutered/spayed, dewormed, and tested for heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania, and Anaplasma. Before traveling, the dogs undergo a final health check by a veterinarian. If necessary, their teeth are cleaned, and X-rays are taken of any potential problem areas. Any concerns or potential health issues that we are aware of will be communicated to you in advance.
