❄ What makes Henry special: Henry has one short leg, a result of being hit by a car twice when he was living on the streets.

Henry is a hunting dog who was abandoned on the streets.. This poor boy had no idea how to survive on the streets and was hit by a car and broke his leg. He was rescued by a local rescue group and nursed back to health. Once he had recovered, they tried to find a home for him , but no-one wanted him, so they were forced to release him back onto the streets. Unfortunately, within a few weeks he was hit by a car and broke his leg again in the same place..

It's clear that poor Henry doesn't stand a chance of surviving on the streets , so when they asked me to take him in, I couldn't turn him down..

Harry is a lovely dog and he is a Melez favourite. He is easy-going and social, and has to much love to give!

Henry adores people and is very affectionate. He loves getting cuddles and follows us around the enclosure for a few minutes every day, asking for more pets. Once he has had his daily fill of cuddles, he happily lies down in his corner, and he doesn't constantly pester you for attention.

Henry is social towards other dogs. Although he doesn't seem to enjoy living in such a big, crowded pack, he always has 1 or 2 best friends, usually larger dogs, who he spends all his time with. He can spend hours playing with his friends and loves having naps side by side, too. Unfortunately, so far he has had to see all his friends go to new homes whilst he got left behind...

It is possible that Henry has a prey drive and was used as a hunting dog before. He doesn't chase birds in the enclosure, but he is reactive to cats.

Outside of the enclosure, Henry is confident and easy-going. He walks well on the lead and enjoys exploring new places. Despite his bad leg, he is very active and loves to run, explore and play. He jumps into the car by himself.

Henry is pretty vocal and often howls along with the local mosque's call to prayer, setting off a whole chorus of howling in the shelter! He protects his home and barks to announce the arrival of strangers.

Some vets may recommend amputating Henry's bad leg. The decision whether to amputate is one we can take in consultation with Henry's adopters and their vet. The procedure can be carried out in Turkey before Henry travels.

Henry is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU of the UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
