❄ What makes Hurley special: Hurley is a sensitive boy who needs a very special home!

We rescued Hurley from the government shelter in the summer of 2024. Most people who walked past Hurley probably just saw a cute little terrier.. But when we spotted him, we could see straight away that something was wrong. Hurley was completely malnourished, and under those gorgeous scruffy curls, he was all skin and bones.. He also had a bacterial infection which was causing breathing difficulties for him.. Who knows how much longer he would have been able to hold on if he hadn't been saved.. Thankfully, he made a full recovery!

Hurley is an extremely sensitive dog who is easily overwhelmed. Living in the busy Melez enclosure, he is very overstimulated and he often feels stressed.

Hurley adores people and is the most loyal, loving dog you will ever meet. He forms strong bonds with the people he trusts and is extremely affectionate. Whenever he sees someone he loves, he jumps up for cuddles and then holds on to your leg, trying to get you to stay, terrified that you will leave.. Hurley is friendly when meeting strangers, and happily lets new people pet him, but it takes him a while to fully trust people, and when around people he doesn't know well, sudden movements can scare him. When Hurley feels threatened, he can act defensively and it is important that his adopters manage his interactions with new people and help him feel safe until he has built up trust.

Hurley gets along well with the other dogs in his kennel and often plays with them, but he can also be nervous around other dogs and can feel intimidated by them. Hurley would probably be best suited to being an only dog in the house, or to sharing his home with a very stable, social and calm other dog.

When Hurley first came to us, he was all skin and bones and he was starving. He displayed food aggression towards both people and other dogs when he first arrived. After a few months of regular meals, he is now much calmer around food, but his new family should still be cautious when he is eating until they have built up a bond of trust with him.

Outside of his kennel, Hurley lets all his nervous energy come out and excitedly runs about trying to sniff all the new smells he can find. Busy, crowded areas are overwhelming for Hurley, and he prefers walking in quiet places.

Hurley will need experienced, confident, calm and patient adopters who can offer him a quiet home where he can fully decompress from all the stress he has been experiencing. When he thinks he is in danger, Hurley will try to defend himself, and it is important that his adopters manage his exposure to potential stress triggers carefully.

When he feels comfortable and safe, Hurley is the happiest little dog. And even when he is nervous, he is the most loving boy, who really looks to the people he trusts for comfort and reassurance. He has so much love to give, and he would be so happy to have a family of his own and a calm, safe home, so he can finally be carefree.

Whoever adopts Hurley will truly be transforming his life, and they will be gaining the most loyal companion!

Hurley is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU of the UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
