❄ What makes Mars special: a unique breed mix, Mars is a Shepherd type dog on short legs! He is the perfect size for anyone who loves Shepherd breeds, but wants a smaller dog.

Mars came into our care in the spring of 2024.
Little Mars was only a baby when he came to us, but he had already had to fight so hard for survival.. He was found by the side of the road all by himself, dirty, covered in mud and his own urine, and with an injured leg. The people who found him brought him to us hoping that we would be able to treat his leg and help him find a home. But when he arrived, before we could even look at his leg, we realised straight away something else was wrong. We brought him straight to the vets, where it turned out that poor little Mars had Parvo. Parvo is extremely deadly for puppies as young as Pars, and as he was already in such a bad shape, we didn't have much hope for him, but after just a few days of treatment he made a full recovery! He later underwent surgery for his leg, and recovered quickly from this, too.
Mars has been through so much in his short life already, and now he is more than ready to find a forever home where he can feel safe and loved.

Mars may be small, but he has a big character! There is never a dull moment with Mars around, and he is always off on his next mischievous adventure! He is full of beans and is one of the most playful dogs in the Melez enclosure.

After all he has been through, Mars is now finally enjoying a carefree life, and he is making the most of it! He is full of youthful, playful, mischievous energy and he spends most of his time running around the enclosure looking for things to play with. Mars loves toys and when we give the dogs toys, Mars excitedly runs around trying to collect all of them and hide them in his corner. Surrounded by his prized collection, he can happily spend ages chewing on all the toys one at a time. He doesn't mind people approaching him when he is playing with his toys, but he doesn't like sharing his toys with other dogs. When no toys are available, Mars will play with the other dogs or splash around in the paddling pools. Water is Mars' absolute favourite thing and he loves running in and out of the paddling pools. You will often find him excitedly rolling around and splashing about in the water. We expect that he will love swimming!

Mars loves people. He is a very affectionate dog who happily greets everyone he meets. He isn't scared of strangers and loves getting cuddles from anyone who will give him attention!

Mars can be nervous around other dogs. When meeting new dogs, Mars often feels intimidated and prefers not to interact with them. In the enclosure, he doesn't like sharing his food or toys with other dogs, but he does enjoy playing with his kennel mates. He has a few good friends in the enclosure that he happily shares his kennel with, and likes to play with, but he much prefers the company of people.

 

Outside of the enclosure, Mars walks well on the lead and is eager to explore new areas, but as he has grown up in the Melez enclosure, much of the outside world is new to him and he is easily startled. A quiet environment would be ideal for Mars to build up his confidence when out and about.

As a young, adolescent dog, Mars loves to get up to mischief and his adopters should be ready for typical naughty adolescent behaviour. But even when he is being cheeky, Mars is such a fun, loveable dog, that he manages to charm everyone anyway!

Mars is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/the UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
